There is nothing surprising about you, Robbins. Nothing whatsoever.

Posted by: karion on October 23, 2008 6:26 PM

I have a couple of other names for you, Balk. But thanks for sweeping up the trash.

Posted by: karion on October 23, 2008 12:29 PM

She didn't just "do nothing" to stop the high incidence of sexual assault.

Her most recent explanation for firing the guy who wouldn't fire her former brother-in-law? He was working towards getting federal funding for a specialized sexual assault unit to combat the problem.

Posted by: karion on October 22, 2008 4:18 PM

Robbins, you were on here the other day, spewing racist epithets. You are a disaster of a human being.

Posted by: karion on October 22, 2008 3:58 PM

For you God-fearing folks who deeply believe marriage is between a man and a woman, I mean no disrespect when I suggest that you simply don't marry a person of your own gender. If you are sincerely worried that a union between a same sex couple is going to devalue your marriage, then I am supremely confident you have far, far bigger problems in your relationship and your identity as a Christian.

I am not "tolerant" of gay marriage. I am completely supportive.

There is absolutely nothing Christian about the posts in opposition made here. Absolutely nothing. You have completely perverted your religion to make yourself seem more holy and devout.

Posted by: karion on October 21, 2008 3:43 PM

You are a vile piece of shit, Robbins. Wretched, vile human being.

Posted by: karion on October 17, 2008 4:47 PM

God, sai1or, you are utterly worthless. You are that guy at the party that wasn't invited, smells like shit, talks too loud and won't get the hint that absolutely no one wants him there.

Here. Let's take the wind out of your sails. Pretend he is a Muslim. Now shut the fuck up. His religion isn't remotely relevant to his fitness as president, you racist, stupid fuck.

Posted by: karion on October 14, 2008 4:01 PM

Hey sai10r? Where was McCain born?

Posted by: karion on October 9, 2008 10:31 PM

Your understanding of intellectual property rights is positively Palin-esque, m1ghtycpa.

It would take too long and too many muti-syllabic words to school you, but suffice to say, they didn't license their song to the McCain campaign. For 99 cents, you bought a lawful copy. That doesn't entitle you to give a public performance of it.

Posted by: karion on October 8, 2008 1:25 PM

Well, at the very least, we'll get some decent, authentic Chinese food. I am so burned out of Thai food.

Posted by: karion on October 7, 2008 3:04 PM

Choire, I think it is really unprofessional that you didn't disclose that you used to be the Managing Editor for Gawker.

HEH.

Posted by: karion on October 3, 2008 5:12 PM

Was there a moment, sai1or, when you fucking lost your mind? Was there a popping sound? Or was it like air leaking out of a balloon?

Jesus. Go the fuck away. Find your bridge and either jump off it or redecorate your space underneath it.

Posted by: karion on October 3, 2008 11:44 AM

God, I love it when you talk legal.

I agree that it was the 'answer' she gave that was more mind-blowing than her inability to cite a Supreme Court case with which she disagreed. Yet I have already heard the positive spin that "well, she's a bad liar and that's a good thing."

Posted by: karion on October 2, 2008 11:20 AM

Balk, I'm sorry, but it is still fun, because the whole McCain-Palin campaign is a series of false bottoms. You keep thinking you've hit rock bottom, but then another trap door opens and bam! A new false bottom awaits.

Posted by: karion on October 1, 2008 4:55 PM

Sai1or, you should be commenting on Gawker. You have that Denton-esque, "say it enough and people will think it is true" thing down pat. Although I heard you told him "thanks but no thanks" when he offered you a commenter account.

Posted by: karion on October 1, 2008 4:46 PM

It is almost a pathological commitment to bullshit.

Posted by: karion on September 9, 2008 3:40 PM

Okay, we have to keep Maggie, too.

Posted by: karion on August 28, 2008 12:46 PM

Sad thing is, this is innovative for Snohomish County.

Posted by: karion on August 27, 2008 5:24 PM

Heartless. You are a cruel mistress. I will still read you the same.

Posted by: karion on August 25, 2008 8:37 PM

I think I am supposed to hate you, Attackerman, but I am not feeling it.

Posted by: karion on August 25, 2008 3:14 PM

Maggie, you know you love me the most!

Posted by: karion on August 25, 2008 2:45 PM

Holy shit, Maggie! Balk, can we keep her, too?

Posted by: karion on August 25, 2008 12:32 PM

Fuck the VP announcement, this is the news I was waiting for. Congrats and huzzah to the official professional union of Balk and Sicha!

Posted by: karion on August 22, 2008 5:04 PM

I have thought that since the beginning. Also, she has a tenuous connection to the Enquirer - her former father in law (a DA in Colorado) gave a declaration in support of the Ramseys to enjoin the Enquirer from publishing a story linking Jon Benet's death to her older brother.

In any event, it seems clear that she has an airtight settlement agreement with Edwards, probably with a staggering liquidated damages clause, but he certainly isn't going to go to court to enforce it and she would be a fool to jeopardize the monthly stipend.

Good work on all this, Neel.

Posted by: karion on August 14, 2008 1:45 PM

I am trying to imagine what would inspire to name their daughter Pigeon. I love the name Pigeon O'Brien more than I could ever explain.

Posted by: karion on August 12, 2008 11:33 AM

Teeth really can be a dealbreaker.

Posted by: karion on August 12, 2008 11:07 AM

It isn't easy to render me speechless, Balk, but you've gone and done it.

Posted by: karion on August 11, 2008 3:29 PM

I STILL BELIEVE IN LOVE!

Posted by: karion on August 11, 2008 3:08 PM

As awesome as that wedding announcement was, you actually made it better.

Posted by: karion on August 11, 2008 1:39 PM

Nice work on all of this, Neel.

Posted by: karion on August 8, 2008 7:14 PM

And with that, I think I can make a strong case for commenter auditions.

Posted by: karion on August 6, 2008 3:47 PM

Goddamn, that was fantastic.

Posted by: karion on August 6, 2008 3:13 PM

It is okay, Andrew. We all want to be Choire Sicha.

Posted by: karion on August 6, 2008 1:04 PM

You know what is great about this story? Siddiqui is the Arabic word for truthful AND it is the slang word for moonshine in Saudi Arabia.

Posted by: karion on August 5, 2008 3:56 PM

I read Radar, for the hot guys and dancing bears.

Posted by: karion on August 5, 2008 2:31 PM

Bring on the bears and I will completely rethink my stance.

Posted by: karion on August 4, 2008 2:20 PM

Has anyone checked on Choire?

Posted by: karion on August 4, 2008 1:51 PM

Balk, is there a paypal account somewhere for the "keep Sicha" campaign? Seriously. You need him more than a site redesign, and that is a bold fucking statement!

Posted by: karion on July 30, 2008 2:35 PM

So ridiculously Team Bear.

Posted by: karion on July 25, 2008 4:11 PM

Team BEAR!

Posted by: karion on July 24, 2008 12:55 PM

No apology necessary. Bring on the bear rubs.

Posted by: karion on July 23, 2008 6:17 PM

I think separate coasts is the key to a happy and long marriage.

Posted by: karion on July 22, 2008 2:40 PM

Mock all you want, Balk. The film gave us "FUBAR."

Posted by: karion on July 22, 2008 1:53 PM

Might want to ask Moe to double check her nether regions before coming to the office. I seem to recall she can get a little absent-minded where feminine (hello, feminism?) products are concerned.

Welcome, Moe. You are bound to catch a fair amount of ribbing, but my mind is open. We can get street smart together.

Posted by: karion on July 22, 2008 2:37 AM

God, Choire, I love it when you talk dirty legal to me.

Posted by: karion on July 21, 2008 1:42 PM

Hello, feminism? Internet commenters are just as mean to men as they are to women.

Balk, please, can we keep him?

Posted by: karion on July 18, 2008 1:40 PM

Denton, Texas? INSIDERY!

Posted by: karion on July 15, 2008 4:00 PM

It is a breach of contract issue, not an IP issue. Ergo, I have no comment except that Choire is positively dishy.

Posted by: karion on July 15, 2008 3:58 PM

I have just the attorney for them. Fucking anonymous commenters and bloggers.

Posted by: karion on July 15, 2008 11:59 AM

I think I like this one most of all, Scarecrow.

Posted by: karion on July 3, 2008 1:48 PM

I have read that three times and it STILL doesn't make sense to me. Your writing is clear - I just cannot understand the business model of dropping writers' pay when they do well and build an audience. I just don't get it, Sam I am.

Posted by: karion on July 3, 2008 11:42 AM

I saw The Day After Tomorrow. It really isn't that long of a walk.

Posted by: karion on July 2, 2008 1:17 PM

Fuck the sharks. I want a summer of bear stories.

Posted by: karion on July 2, 2008 11:07 AM

I enjoyed that more than a person like you could understand, Balk.

Posted by: karion on June 30, 2008 2:11 PM

I didn't think it could get any better after the mention of fairly short shorts, but indeed, it did. Terrific writing. Also, you are rapidly becoming my favorite legal analyst.

Posted by: karion on June 30, 2008 10:30 AM

I am going to preempt all of the critics who will tell you how old this clip is by reminding them that you, too, are old.

Oh who the fuck am I kidding? It is an echo chamber in here! I love the lion!

Posted by: karion on June 27, 2008 4:22 PM

I love you both. Balk, your commitment to following Washington state politics fascinates me. Also, this is the most interesting thing in WA politics in years.

Posted by: karion on June 27, 2008 2:15 PM

This is so bitingly brilliant and probably much more so than you intended.

Posted by: karion on June 26, 2008 3:20 PM

God, what a fucking brilliant comment.

Posted by: karion on June 25, 2008 1:52 PM

The weird thing is the People shots look more PS'd than your scary gallery of PS'd images.

I think he looks a lot better with his clothes on. He is like Eva Longoria in male form.

Posted by: karion on June 24, 2008 4:15 PM

Nothing - I repeat nothing - about any of this is a fine idea, Balk. The Mario shots were bad enough, but the PS's? Utterly disturbing.

Posted by: karion on June 24, 2008 3:56 PM

That was a simple and elegant tribute. Thank you.

Posted by: karion on June 13, 2008 10:32 PM

Keep Choire, that is. Gessen talks too much.

Posted by: karion on June 13, 2008 1:12 PM

Seriously, Balk, we can keep him, can't we?

I have a plan for the funding issues. I donated to Hillary before I donated to Obama. I can parlay that (and my thick, dark hair) into a sit down with Hillary and Bill. Bill knows the big boss guy at Radar and he likes young girls. I know a few. In the end, I will trade a few young waifs for a year long contract for Mr. Sicha.

I really don't see how this can fail.

Posted by: karion on June 13, 2008 1:02 PM

I think the lavender legal mafia sounds lovely. Also, I remember an article by Dan Savage - at least five years ago - when he told the gay community not to push for marriage, but rather other civil rights. His theory, at least as I understood it at the time, was that the gay community needed to push for core civil rights and protections (employment, housing, etc.), which most people could understand were fundamental to every person, and not scare the straighties with the word marriage.

I am going to paint my office lavender.

Posted by: karion on June 11, 2008 3:01 PM

TMI, Balk.

Posted by: karion on June 10, 2008 7:16 PM

That was a terrific recommendation and read.

Posted by: karion on June 10, 2008 2:08 PM

UhOhKaren, what the hell are you doing over here?

Posted by: karion on June 6, 2008 2:01 PM

Two weeks at Radar? Sweet mother of all that's holy and servicey.

Posted by: karion on June 6, 2008 1:55 PM

Choire as a sharp and accurate legal analyst whilst with Balk?

Best week ever. I hate you, Friday.

Posted by: karion on June 5, 2008 1:03 PM

Weird. Now, they just connect you directly to Scoble.

Posted by: karion on June 4, 2008 4:09 PM

The short ribs at Tra Vigne in Napa are post-vow worthy and not too heavy. French Laundry would just be too cliche.

Posted by: karion on June 4, 2008 1:52 PM

I really have to read tumblr more often and carefully and not just for Balk's music picks. I really don't think it is all that much to ask that they send out some sort of batsignal when this kind of thing happens. Pretty hard to be a groupie when you don't know where to group.

Posted by: karion on June 4, 2008 1:41 PM

God help me, it has bee a short bus week, but Choire and Balk, together again?

I will pay cash money to keep this up. And this rant is twenty two shades of awesome.

Posted by: karion on June 4, 2008 12:55 PM

Claire, you are performing a very important public service here, and I, for one, deeply appreciate it.

Daisy's malfunction at the end was positively spellbinding. I watched it at least three times on the tivo. It appears that something in her short circuited.

Posted by: karion on March 31, 2008 4:04 PM

This was several thousand variations of awesome.

Posted by: karion on March 28, 2008 5:07 PM

Not so much sexual stirrings, but an important first lesson that if at first the guy exhibits outright hostility towards you, best to follow him around like a puppy dog and offer up everything you have until you wear him down by attrition.

I'm more of a Point Break girl, it would appear.
