maybe joe misconstrued the obama tax plan, then. because unless his salary is $250,000 or more, his taxes would go down, not up. i doubt that the obama campaign misconstrued his question to make it seem as if they were going to raise his taxes. that doesn't even make sense.

perhaps sailor got her information from the mccain-palin school of truth and abstinence education, whose motto is, "whatever we say is right at the time, is right...because we're mavericks!"

a.)how's sarah palin gonna tell "government to get out of our way", when it becomes our mortgage holder?!
b.)e-bay announced that it was going to lay off 10% of its workforce the day before john mccain named meg whitman as someone he would potentially name as treasury secretary--she's not the current e-bay ceo, but the policies that led to the layoffs were hers.
as an alternate, maybe mccain should name his other favorite ceo--who also spoke at the RNC convention--Carli Fiorina--fired HP CEO...they also announced over the last month that they would lay off almost 25,000 employees...wow--that's about 1000 employees per million dollars of her 25 million dollar severance package!!

So if there had been video of the Q & A portion of the pageant when she was asked one of these (most common pageant questions):

Who is your role model and why?
What qualities do you feel a good role model should possess?
What do you feel is the most challenging issue facing teenagers today?
Why do you want to become Miss "______" ?
Why did you enter this pageant?
What are your future plans?
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
What are your plans for education after you complete high school?
What are three words that describe you best?
What is your favorite color and how do you feel when you wear it?
What are some things you did to prepare for this pageant?
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Do you have a favorite sport?
What can people do to help the homeless?
If you could meet anyone in the world (living or not) who would it be any what would you say to them?
What is your most prized possession?
Who is your favorite actor or actress?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
What can we do to stop gang violence?
How would you try to improve racial relations among people?
If you could live anyone else's life, who would it be and why?
If you were elected President of the United States what would be the first thing you would do?
If you had only one wish, what would it be and why?
if your pageant title was threatened because you had gained weight, how would you feel and what would you do?
If you could give $50,0000 to any charity in the world, which one would it be and why?
If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
What does the word "loyal" mean to you?

Then maybe John McCain's people would have known that she would come across similarly when interviewed by Katie Couric:

to "whatamoron"...when Alex mention the "actuary that he went to college with" he was referring to a person that does this:

The future is uncertain. Some of the events that can happen are undesirable. "Risk" is the possibility that an undesirable event will occur. Actuaries are experts in:

Evaluating the likelihood of future events
Designing creative ways to reduce the likelihood of undesirable events
Decreasing the impact of undesirable events that do occur.
The impact of undesirable events can be both emotional and financial. Reducing the likelihood of these events helps relieve emotional pain. But some events, such as death, cannot be totally avoided. So, reducing their financial impact is very important. Actuaries are the leading professionals in finding ways to manage risk. It takes a combination of strong analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behavior to design and manage programs that control risk.

so he was factoring in the future likelihood that SP will be POTUS if the McCain/Palin ticket wins...

whatamoron is right about one thing--his/her name.

if he were in college during the iraq-iran war (1980-1988), then he would be around 48. might be the only grain of truth...

as someone with naturally bone-straight hair, i suffered through "root perms" and every other type perm during previous trends (early seventies when i was a kid, and again in the early eighties as a teen), before i decided to work with my hair, not against it. ironically, when curly hair was "in", i always thought i had ugly hair...now i always get compliments on my hair...now, straight hair happens to be in, but so what?! when curly hair inevitably comes back, i will continue to have straight hair, and wear it straight, as it really doesn't take a curl, anyway, so I have stopped fighting. i would support those with curly hair in celebrating their natural curl, now, and in the future...and if not, your dollars and time would be better spent on therapy and codependent groups, rather than expensive straightening methods and angst over what "society thinks." so what?!

whether explicitly or not, on a rushed timetable or otherwise, the news about Palin's daughter was bound to come out, and come out in the national and international news, as soon as she chose to accept McCain's offer. Blame the media all you want, but Palin was the one that invited the glare of the media spotlight into her life. The bottom line remains that she, and apparently, only she, knew that this would happen, and chose it.

wow--this is so obviously fiction...and annoying.

what kind of endorsement is it, if, when the world's press is watching (not to mention a gazillion viewers) that the functional part of the product malfunctions, and has to be removed? I'm sure there is a lot of design that goes into the frames as well, but their primary purpose is to hold the lenses--the ones that had to be removed because they fogged up!!!!

is it any wonder his daughter is estranged from him?!

Posted by: frenchbelle on July 29, 2008 10:26 AM

or they could just change the tag-line from "what will your mother tell the neighbors" to "come on, you know this is one of the your favorite benefits of team sports, besides the constant ass patting and locker room group nudity "!

christian bale's father was married to gloria steinem (yes, that gloria steinem) and christian bale has a very close relationship with her...seems odd that he would assault his mom and sister, as i just assumed he was a feminist...however, it seems that there is probably more going on than has been reported.

...maybe she only wants him for a fishing buddy.

i'm just saying, "if it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck..." in other words, as the t-shirt says, "if you let us marry each other we'll stop marrying you!"

maybe angel merkel justs wants to avoid running into her boundary-less, back-rubbing colleague, W.

we've all done that before...changed plans to avoid the office space-invader!

i would also say that those "urbane tomboys" could also be called "pre-lesbians"...speaking strickly from my own experience, of course.

yesterday on "meet the press" so-called republican "wordsmith" peggy noonan was dumbstruck by richardson's beard. considering the frequent use of beards (albeit of a slightly different nature) in the republican party (larry craig's wife, david dreier's dates), i was surprised by her stupor:

MR. RUSSERT: Peggy Noonan, thoughts on Bill Clinton, Bill Richardson?

MS. NOONAN: I, I am struck by how, how with his beard, Bill Richardson looks like Rod Steiger in Dr. Zhivago. He has startled me. I was saying, "That's not Bill Richardson. And who in the heck is that guy?"
