This is funny.

The main evidence of Kurtz's political bias is 1. His wife is a GOP consultant (what about the media writer whose brother is a big time editor?) and 2. He treated several hated Republicans like humans. This claim was bolstered by citing a single liberal who was subjected to a rough opening sentence.

All of it supported by evidence from a guy who asks, "What Liberal Media?" Too funny.

Let's see these "radicals":

*Rapping about sex
*Expressing teen angst
*Female Andy Kaufman
*Mocking Christians
*Rapping-pimp chronicler
*Questionable black outrage-stokers
*Gay provocateurs
*Transsexual actor

Those sure are "racial." Pissing off church-goers, rapping about sex, twisting facts to exploit racial divisions...you just don't see people with the guts to do that these days.

I lost a lot of respect for Jim Romenesko ("one of the fairest and most thorough reporters in the business") when he buried corrections of the hyped, sloppy reporting of the "Jena 6" uproar in La.

It didn't help that Poynter's own Dean of Faculty, who "teaches reporting on race relations" repeated much of the bogus information, after local media had issued warnings that national scribes were getting it wrong.

Romenesko is a tireless defender of old-school journalism, which unfortunately includes all of the old-school biases. That he is "impresario of the best read and most informative media blog in the world" is not comforting. It's dangerous when the media watchdogs have no one watching them.
