First daughter Jenna Bush married Henry Hager in a weekend-long, cows-and-all ceremony in Crawford, Texas. God showed up. Near beer flowed. And for at least a couple of days, the woes of a recession, war, and lame duck presidency melted away.
There were heartfelt toasts and a towering cake, and after the ceremony, several bombs were dropped on strategic sites in Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of the new couple. Jenna wore a slinky Oscar de la Renta gown and danced with her father to Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful." "Our little girl Jenna married a really good guy, Henry Hager. The wedding was spectacular, all we could have hoped for," President Bush told reporters afterwards. Not to mention it totally blew Mariah and Nick off of the headlines.
They picked the wrong Joe Cocker song. I'd have liked if they danced to his Woodstock rendition of "A Little Help From My Friends" or maybe the Belushi impression of same.
