David Copperfield's rape accuser had the forethought to take cell phone pics of the scene afterward, and didn't shower until cops got physical evidence from her, the National Enquirer reports.

The new story comes as the curtain is pulled back on Copperfeld's pickup magic. There's a pattern: He pulls women on stage as part of his act, uses code words like "mama" and "secrecy" to cue assistants into bringing the women backstage then gets their contact info, telling them he might use them again in an upcoming show, asks them where they like to vacation, and, if the vibe is right, casually drops that he owns a $45.5 million exclusive Bahamian lovenest. (It's a scenario described by our own commenters, who say Copperfield even worked his children's foundation into his pickup act.)

The Enquirer describes in detail accusations that the illusionist lured his accuser back to his room, held her down (causing serious bruising), and only seemed to be more turned on when she struggled. The $2 million the feds seized from Cop's lair may have been payoff money to keep the accusations quiet, the tab speculates.

Tough stuff. So how does Copperfield's rep respond? By reminding us that the magician moonlights as a swordsman who doesn't need to rape anyone if he wants to get laid—this is the guy that practically ruined Claudia Schiffer, after all. "David never forced himself on anybody," the rep says. His reputation speaks for itself."
