Boy hunk Zac Efron and his on-again off-again paramour and High School Musical costar Vanessa Hudgens are to Bop and Tigerbeat what Brad and Angelina are to People and In Touch. They command covers, their every move is tracked and explained, and, for the most part, they have excellent hair. But now, with his big-screen debut in the upcoming Hairspray, 19-year-old Efron is about to make the jump from 'Tween Town to Hollywood and Vine—a move that has left many a boy wonder in the dust (here's looking at you, Leif Garrett).

And yet, there are encouraging signs that Efron is ready for his paparazzi close-up, including some telltale toxic bachelor behavior. After the jump, evidence that the latest dreamboat in the pantheon of famously flirtatious Zac's (Morris, Braff, Galifianakis) will have no problem wooing the grown-up glossies.

He takes on cheesy, mass-appeal roles
Efron just signed on to remake Footloose and is in talks to play a Tom Hanks-esque character in Seventeen, a kind of reverse Big. Following a career in Disney Channel films, Efron's nearly a second-generation Mouseketeer. It worked for Britney and Justin.

He is a total diva
A source close to the production told Radar that when Hairspray director Adam Shankman asked Zac to cut and dye his frosted blond surfer 'do for the production, "He practically had a nervous breakdown." The tabs love an on-set complain-fest, especially when it spawns from grooming woes.

He really goes for it with the ladies
Another source close to Hairspray said Efron was "very confident, even flirtatious" with Michelle Pfeiffer during filming. She is 30 years his senior. He has also been in a constant love yo-yo with Hudgens, and recent rumors suggest that he has also been getting friendly with another HSM star, Ashley Tisdale. We are also told by someone who's interviewed him that Zac's in the habit of wearing pants with visible holes in the boxer/brief region.
